Chocolate's Secret Ingredient
A major chocolate manufacturer shut down operations
today after the body of a small child was found in a bag of
imported cocoa beans. According to workers at the factory the child was
poured from one of many large cocoa bean sacks into the machinery.
Despite attempts to halt
manufacturing, the child entered the first stage
of the grinding process. Witnesses say the body appeared lifeless before consumed by machinery.
An attending operations manager speculated the child was
attempting to enter the country illegally. Workers blamed
poor working conditions in the cocoa bean's country of origin for causing
the accidental packaging of the child.
Police
Superintendent Charlaton said, "We are investigating
the possibility of foul play but due to the condition of
the body and the difficulty of conducting transparent investigations
where the bag was packed, unfortunately, the chances of a
resolution to this tragic incident are unlikely."
The company's executive board expressed regret over the
incident and assured consumers that the machinery would be
replaced before manufacturing recommenced. "Lovers of fine chocolate
may rest assured there will be no trace of the child in our products." a
spokesperson said.
